Harxon and Agres collaborate to enhance agricultural navigation

World’s leading GNSS positioning antenna solution provider Harxon Corporation has been collaborating with Brazilian agricultural navigation solutions and systems developer Agres. The collaboration integrates Harxon Smart Antenna into Agres Autopilot System, offering a secure and robust navigation solution, which can withstand the diverse rigors of operational requirements in agricultural environments.

Ready-to-use systems

Agres is a protagonist in the technological revolution of Brazilian agribusiness, providing complete high precision system for agricultural navigation, responsible for automatic steering on straight or curved parallel lines, allowing diverse field operations to be carried out, such as preparing the soil, planting seeds, cultivating the plantation and harvesting the crops. These powerful and ready-to-use systems are suitable for various brands and tractor/vehicle models such as Kuhn, John Deere, Valtra, Massey Ferguson, New Holland, LS, Landini, Jacto and others, and accessible to producers of all scales – small, medium, and large. Harxon Smart Antenna TS112 Pro enhance the performance of Agres autopilot systems by improving signal quality, providing accurate location data, and ensuring efficient communication.

Timesaving and cost-effective

The reason why Harxon smart antenna has been so attractive within the agriculture market and to autonomy customers specifically, has been the ease of integration and the high performance it provides. GNSS positioning is just one part of an autonomous system, and the autonomous integrators don’t necessarily have resources and the expertise to develop OEM component portfolio. Therefore, it’s a timesaving and cost-effective choice to directly integrate smart antenna into autonomous system, which simplifies the system development process by requiring only the selection of an appropriate antenna, considering the mount point on the vehicle and communication unit’s connection, accelerating the time to market.

Harxon provides high performance Smart Antenna TS112 Series for both tough environments where it’s hard to get access to differential links or set up base stations and environments where it’s possible to get access to one kind or more kinds of differential links. Harxon supports a variety of communication protocols including Serial, CAN, PPS, Ground Speed Out, Bluetooth, LTE and Radio, guaranteeing system compatibility and communication reliability. The compact smart antenna is designed into IP67-rating rugged housing with highly reliable antenna structure, which ensures stable positioning performance in harsh environments even after years of use. It also simplifies the installation on the vehicle by providing two options – magnetic mount and pole mount.

Pseudorange solutions

In tough environments where it’s hard to get access to differential links or set up base stations, using single point positioning by combined pseudorange solutions from satellite navigation systems might be the only way to realise GNSS positioning. Harxon Standalone Function can maintain 5~20cm positioning accuracy for up to half an hour in horizontal orientation, and maintain 30cm positioning accuracy within for up to an hour without the support of any external precision data. For these situations, smart antenna TS112 SE is recommended as a cost-effective option. Up to 15cm Pass to Pass Accuracy (RMS) can be achieved.

In some environments where it’s possible to get access to one kind or more kinds of differential links, higher positioning accuracy can be achieved via Satellite-Based Differential Solution or Ground-Based Differential solution. Ground-Based Differential solution means that you can either use your own base or a remote one using a technology called NTRIP. NTRIP allows your rover to accept corrections over the Internet with no need for the second local receiver acting as a base. If you choose to set up your own base, a UHF radio is needed for fast correction data transmission for the base to your rover. For these situations, mid-priced TS112 is recommended smart antenna. Satellite-Based Differential Solution means that you can either use SBAS service in SBAS regions (SBAS are geosynchronous satellite systems) or TerraStar correction service outside SBAS regions (TerraStar correction services deliver precise GNSS corrections to users worldwide via L-Band beams). For these situations, professional smart antenna TS112 PRO is recommended for extreme positioning solution.
